lately when I push the trunk button, the trunk unlocks but doesn't open correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you pushing the button on the trunk lid itself, or do you have a remote release handle near the driver seat?

In any case it sounds like you either need to clean the mechanism or make an adjustment. If it's a remote release there may be a cable needing adjustment.

More info please.

EDIT: after re-reading I think you're using your key fob remote to open the trunk. If this is the case I think you should clean the latch mechanism and lube it. It sounds like the latch isn't popping open as much as it used to.

It unlatches just fine, but it doesn't open all the way up on it's own. And when you close it it just slams down.

Sounds like the support system is messed up. Does your trunk lid use springs or struts?

I just looked it up. You have 2 struts that support the trunk lid. They cost about $30 each and I think you need to replace them.
